Dr. David Cole - Veterinarian

David Cole

I have loved animals since I was a kid. I had dogs and cats growing up, I grew up in farm country and my first real job was working at a dairy farm when I was 13.

I grew up in upstate New York and Vermont. My family moved to Charlotte, NC and I attended East Mecklenburg High School. I graduated from NC State with a BS in Biochemistry, then with my DVM from the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine.

My wife, Dr. Donna Anderson-Cole was my classmate in Vet School. Somehow I got her to marry me, and we have two incredible adult children, Mary Grace and Eva Rose. We enjoy living the laid back coastal lifestyle, working in our yard, and all things Disney. I am also a big fan of stock car racing, a love I shared with my dad before his passing.

I initially practiced large animal medicine - primarily dairy - in Pennsylvania. My wife and I returned to Wilmington, NC in the mid 1990’s where I first worked for NCDA, then with Wilmington Animal Emergency Hospital. We returned to the Charlotte area when we were starting our family. In 2022 we were newly empty nesters and decided to move back to the coast and bought a home in Sneads Ferry.

I was thrilled when I found Whole Pet. Their focus on holistic medicine, focusing on the entirety of the pet’s life and their role in the family, is exactly what I was looking for as my veterinary home for the final chapters of my veterinary career. I look forward to sharing my experience from years in practice, and learning some new skills to use to make pets’ lives better.
